Synopsis
Forget Mozart / Vergeßt Mozart / Zabudnite na Mozarta is a Slovak-West German co-production exploring the mysterious circumstances surrounding Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s untimely death. Through a crime investigation framework, the film delves into the meaning of artistic creation, the relationship between an artist and society, and the cost of life and death. Avoiding romantic clichés, it offers a socially and psychologically nuanced critique of rigid absolutism, reflecting Mozart’s revolutionary spirit. With its intricate storytelling and rich depiction of the Central European Rococo era, the film is both a historical reflection and a gripping drama, awarded the Golden Plaque for Best Screenplay at the Chicago International Film Festival.
