Synopsis
Smrt krásných srnců (Death of Beautiful Deer) is a touching adaptation of Ota Pavel’s beloved stories about his Czech-Jewish family before and during World War II. Directed by Karel Kachyňa, the film beautifully weaves humor and tragedy into one heartfelt narrative. Through the eyes of young “Prdelka,” we follow his joyful childhood by the Berounka River — filled with fishing, laughter, and lessons from his father and uncle — until the harsh reality of war changes everything.
