Description
Enemies of the State / Kajinek
Synopsis
Kajínek is a dramatic portrayal of the post-communist era in Czechoslovakia when totalitarian practices found fertile ground in organized crime and the criminal underworld. A power struggle for wealth and control erupts, suppressing individual rights and showing no mercy. Jiří Kajínek becomes the first man convicted of a contract killing, accused of murdering businessman Perner and his personal guard Klempár. Doubts about his guilt persist even after a decade. When he attempts to escape from the Bory Prison, young lawyer Pokorová takes an interest in his case, living with her boss Dočekal, who unsuccessfully defended Kajínek before. Despite attempts to dissuade her, she is determined to find evidence to reopen the case. As she gradually uncovers the intertwining of crime with state administration, it seems increasingly unlikely that she can succeed. However, Kajínek manages to escape from Mírov, leading to unexpected developments, and Pokorová finally gets closer to unraveling what really happened and who is behind Perner's murder.
