Bake a classic Czech-style perník with this convenient cake mix that delivers a soft, moist, and fluffy result every time. The recipe is flavored with a comforting blend of warm spices including cinnamon, anise, cloves, coriander, and fennel—perfect for everyday baking or festive occasions. Enjoy it simply on its own or finish with jam and a rich chocolate glaze for a traditional touch.
Preparation Instructions:
You will need:
400 ml water or milk
120 ml oil (12 tbsp)
Preheat your oven:
Electric oven: 165°C (30–40 min)
Fan oven: 155°C (30–40 min)
Gas oven: Medium heat (30–40 min)
Mix the batter:
Empty the package into a bowl.
Add water (or milk) and oil.
Optional: Add 2–3 tbsp of honey for extra flavor.
Mix well with a wooden spoon or an electric mixer.
Bake:
Pour into a greased and floured baking tray (30x40 cm).
Bake according to the temperatures above.
Test with a toothpick—if it comes out clean, it’s done.
Finishing touches:
Let cool, then spread with jam and drizzle with dark glaze.
Top with nuts, coconut, or sprinkles if desired.
