A dry mix for preparing traditional Christmas gingerbread cookies, the box contains a mix for the dough and a mix for white icing to decorate the cookies. Just add butter, honey, and eggs. The mix yields approximately 45 gingerbread cookies (2 baking sheets). For inspiration, the inside of the packaging includes templates for cutting out St. Nicholas, a devil, and Christmas ornaments. This is a seasonal product.
Preparation Instructions:
Empty the contents of the dough mix sachet onto a board, add butter or margarine, honey, and eggs. Knead by hand to form a smooth dough. If the dough is sticky, add 1-2 tablespoons of plain flour. Cut out all templates from the inside of the box using sharp scissors. Roll out the dough on a floured board to about 5 mm thick and use the templates to cut out St. Nicholas, a devil, and Christmas ornaments, or use cookie cutters to make various shapes. Bake on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Just before baking, brush the cookies with beaten egg white. Baking time and temperature are specified in the table on the package. Let the cookies cool. Mix the icing mix with water using a whisk until stiff. If the icing is too thin, add 1-2 tablespoons of sifted powdered sugar. Fill a decorating bag with the icing and decorate the cookies. Allow the icing to dry. You can also decorate the cookies with Dr. Oetker's colorful decorating tubes. Store the cookies in a tin Christmas box, add half an apple, seal tightly, and store in a cool place. Change the apple daily. The cookies will soften in two to three days.
Ingredients: Wheat flour, sugar, reduced-fat cocoa powder, spices (cinnamon, anise, clove, coriander, and fennel in varying proportions), raising agent (sodium bicarbonate), modified potato starch, caramel powder. May contain traces of milk and lupin flour.
