Description
Diva Bara DVD
Synopsis
Beautiful Daughter of the Village Shepherd, Bára, captures the hearts of all the young men in the village. However, superstitious rumors spread among the village ladies that she was born as a child of the Noonday Witch. Bára has only a few friends: the pastor's ward, Eliška, and the pastor himself, who always stands up for her. The estate manager, Sláma, pursues Eliška, but she loves a student from Prague. To discourage Sláma's advances, Bára disguises herself as a ghost and frightens him near the cemetery. Unfortunately, she is caught and the enraged villagers lock her in the mortuary... This film, which achieved significant success in both the Soviet Union and Latin America, marked the directorial debut of Vladimír Čech. The role of Bára was portrayed by the charming and spirited member of the Silesian National Theatre in Opava, Vlasta Fialová, who was selected through auditions. It was also her first film.
