Synopsis
Poor shop assistant Helena accepts a theater ticket from an unknown man who had a dispute with his fiancée Eva. The unknown man turns out to be millionaire Jára Nerad, and Helena pretends to be wealthy in front of him. The next day, they accidentally meet at the store where Helena works, and the truth comes out. However, Jára doesn't mind and they start dating. Helena lives in a women's shelter with Miluška, and the shy owner of an auto repair shop, Karel, is in love with her. Helena arranges a meeting between them, and both young couples go on a trip by car. However, Jára's mother wants him to marry the wealthy Eva and pretends to have lost the family fortune due to a drop in stock prices. To save his father from bankruptcy, Jára agrees to marry Eva. The situation gets even more complicated when Jára's uncle Ferdinand mistakenly invites Helena to the engagement party, leading to a rift with Eva. Jára immediately cancels the engagement with Eva. The director of the women's shelter can now organize a double wedding: Helena with Jára and Miluška with Karel.
