This is the story of two kingdoms. The king of the first empire is called Vladan. He is regarded as evil and vindictive. His many wars have brought pain and misery to the country. The shadow of a huge dragon is circling above the royal castle, Princess Karolina is trying on black clothes of mourning with tears in her eyes and a few invited princes are feasting in the castle's court. They are discussing what to do over some good food. The first prince proposes offering the dragon a few hundred vassals in place of the Princess, the second is of the opinion that the kingdom neglected to take preventative measures and that they should try to reason with the dragon and the third prince, for a change, has written another song. But none of them wants to stand up to the dragon. And so it is up to the puppeteer Vítek, who has to gather up all his courage and, for his love for the princess, plunge into a futile fight...

Synopsis
In a small town, preparations for a theatre show are in full swing. The play on the program is based on a local legend about a huge treasure hidden deep underground. Many are those who wish to find it, but whoever sets out to look for it never returns. The protagonists of the performance are two sisters, Kacenka and Barborka, and musician Jakub, Barborka's jealous boyfriend. The theme of the play appeals to the greedy lord of the chateau Borivoj of Hajek, who comes with his brother Ignác, eccentric inventor and explorer. While somewhere underneath, at the real treasure, its three ghostly guards sit and devise all sorts of pastimes which do not please the Ruler of the Underground at all. His patience runs out when the bored guards interfere with the fates of the humans - making a bet about how the relationship between Jakub and Barborka will turn out.
