Synopsis
Aging writer Karel Šejnoha (Zdeněk Svěrák) struggles with his writing. Unfinished stories clutter his mind, and their characters emerge into the real world, urging him to continue their tales. Each character desires something: photographer Matěj longs for the unattainable Vendula, Mr. Bohumil seeks a miracle, and mechanic Bakalář wishes to be a healer. Amidst this, Šejnoha's wife from the real world thinks it's time he quits writing to focus on her. This comedy with magical realism elements poses universal questions of life with exaggeration and humor. The screenplay by Jan Svěrák is based on Zdeněk Svěrák's beloved short stories.
