Description
Back Then / Zupa nic Blu-Ray
Synopsis
A prequel to the award-winning and audience-loved comedy My Daughters of the Cow. This time, Poland's favourite director Kinga Dębska takes viewers back to the communist era and the youth of her characters.
Sisters Marta and Kasia share a room with their grandmother, who instead of fairy tales tells her granddaughters stories of the uprising. In the room behind the wall, their married life is led by their parents, the system's constantly humiliated intelligentsia, Tadek, and the chairwoman of the company's Solidarity trade union, Elżbieta. Soon, the whole family is in for a big thrill. It all begins when a dream baby is placed under the block of flats and Ela and Tadek discover a vocation for trade and foreign travel.
Family relationships sketched with great tenderness, a dose of perversity, a dose of therapeutic laughter and emotion, and the endearing "melancholy of furniture" - all this in the cinematic pill of positive energy that is "Zupa nic".
"Soup Nothing" was honoured with the Audience Award and Special Award at the 33rd PFFA 2021 in Chicago. The film has been accepted into official competition at the 2022 Palm Springs International Film Festival.
