Gajdošova kontrabasová škola 2. díl - 3.-7. poloha (2026)

The second part of Gajdoš’s Double Bass School follows the first volume, published in 2025. This continuation is intended for pupils at basic art schools and beginning conservatory students. It contains a complete study of double bass technique in the basic positions, as well as valuable methodological notes by Miloslav Gajdoš on playing standing and seated and on various ways of holding the bow. Written in December 2025, these texts present a current summary of his lifelong experience. Together, the first and second volumes provide a comprehensive treatment of all basic and transitional positions and offer a complete system for studying double bass technique up to the seventh position. The second volume includes technical exercises, bowing technique, polyphonic compositions by J. S. Bach, advanced double bass technique in the form of double- and triple-stopping studies, and a range of new instructional compositions by M. Gajdoš. Students become familiar with notation in the tenor and treble clefs. The school concludes with two extensive and successful works by the author: Suite in D minor and Solo in A minor. Both volumes have been fully prepared by Eva Šašinková, a graduate of Miloslav Gajdoš and currently a teacher at HAMU in Prague, the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague and the Conservatory in Plzeň, as well as the author of numerous specialist publications. Gajdoš’s Double Bass School is an essential study resource, designed for players of all ages.
