Description
This score and set of parts contains 14 fanfares written for a consistent ensemble of three B-flat trumpets, two F horns, three trombones and three percussion instruments. The title reflects the idea that each fanfare should be associated with a colour and that some could evoke the atmosphere of a particular occasion, such as a white fanfare for a wedding ceremony or a red fanfare for a festive event. The pieces are intended for students at music schools, with moderate ranges that avoid extreme registers. The keys have also been chosen for their suitability and common use on brass instruments. The percussion section uses the traditional setup for three players: bass drum, suspended or pair cymbals, and snare drum.
