Description
This fourth and final volume of a drum-kit method is intended for advanced players who have already come a long way. The Czech-language book continues the numbered exercises from the previous volumes, divided into beat-rock, jazz and dance rhythms. Its main focus is solo playing, while also continuing sections on phrase divisions, irregular rhythms, breaks and revision exercises. The extensive solo section uses techniques including paradiddles, accents, playing the hi-hat with both hands and variations in hi-hat footwork. Two new sections cover playing two bass drums with a double pedal and exercises for two players in duets. In the duets, the drummer has only an abbreviated notation in a particular style, leaving the interpretation to the player’s imagination and skill, while the percussionist has a fixed part. The final chapter again presents examples of dance and other commonly used rhythms.
