Description
This Czech-language book introduces readers to the extensive technical and rhythmic variety of snare-drum playing through progressively more demanding études and ensemble exercises. It is divided into three chapters of increasing difficulty. Alongside basic subdivisions, covered in the entire first chapter, it presents snare-drum techniques, drags, quintuplets, syncopated triplets and polyrhythms. Nineteen ensemble exercises for two snare drums usually summarize the lesson covered. Each chapter ends with a solo étude focusing on its dominant rhythmic element. The final chapter includes examples of pre-march pieces, or anšlágy, from various parts of the world.
