Borrowed Words in Action 1: Learning English through pictures – Curtis Stephen (2014)

Borrowed Words In Action is a two-book series, which presents 120 words from other languages that have been ‘borrowed’ by English. These words have become a part of English yet retain a sense of ‘foreignness’. Each word is clearly explained with its pronunciation guide, language of origin, definition, example sentences, and a humorous contextual cartoon in plain everyday English. This unique approach promotes reading and deepens understanding, making the learning of what can be complicated vocabulary fun and effective for learners of all levels.
