Collective Manual for Inclusive and Sustainable Art Institutitions (2024)

This extensive publication is the result of two years of collaboration by the Islands of Kinship platform, connecting six artistic institutions from different parts of Europe (Prague, Bratislava, Bitola/Skopje, Cologne, Helsinki, Riga) in an innovative model of cooperation that addresses issues of inclusion, kinship and community, democratic exchange and ethics, emotions, and practical solutions for sustainable and equitable institutional operations. A unique group of curators, artists, and experts involved in the individual organizations as coordinators for inclusion and sustainability reflect on social and environmental responsibility in artistic and institutional practice from theoretical, political, and practical perspectives. Through essays, mind maps, codes, or principles and recommendations, they address issues of accessibility, equal representation, and participation.
