Description

Two samurais - Manzo Shiotsu and Hikosaburo Soma - relocate just before the start of the Meiji period to the United States to start a new life. They settle in Wyoming, where they live peacefully until they save an Indian girl from the hands of white men. From that moment on, their fate is tied to the Oglala tribe, belonging to the Sioux nation. Through their courage and valor, both foreigners earn the admiration of the Indians and the friendship of Chief Crazy Horse. They become part of the tribe and take on the names Heavenly Eagle and Wind Wolf. Just like in Taniguchi's other work, 'The Book of Wind', in 'Heavenly Eagle', history intertwines with fiction, and the main characters participate in real events. Additionally, Taniguchi once again proves that no one can match him in drawing natural scenery. This comic was nominated for the prestigious Japan Expo Award in the seinen manga category (comics aimed at adult readers) in 2010.
