The day after the final scene of the movie Heat, Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer) is hiding in Koreatown with Nate (Jon Voight). He is injured, half-conscious, and needs to get out of Los Angeles. He is being pursued by Los Angeles police detective Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino), who just hours earlier killed Shiherlis's partner Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) during a shootout under the approach lights at the Los Angeles airport runway. Hanna is now determined to catch Shiherlis, the last surviving member of McCauley's crew, before he disappears from the city.
