Description
The Book of Lies, subtitled “Falsely So Called,” is one of the most distinctive works by the renowned British magician and teacher Aleister Crowley (1875–1947). First published shortly before the First World War, it contains more than ninety chapters, most of them only a single page long. The book combines mystical treatises, instructions for magical rituals, philosophical reflections, poems, humorous stories, and hazy parables or allegories. The subject of each chapter depends on the Kabbalistic meaning of its number. Around 1921, Crowley wrote a brief explanation for every chapter, and these commentaries are also included in the Czech edition. The Book of Lies has remained one of Crowley’s most accessible yet most ambiguous works. It offers useful study material for anyone interested in Thelema and modern magic, while also standing as an engaging literary work. The contents are in Czech.
