Description
This Czech-language graphic novel follows Andrij, an ordinary man who accepts the challenge of cooking authentic Ukrainian borscht. For its narrator, borscht is Ukrainian Lego, with everyone assembling it according to their own preferences. Even someone who drinks coconut-milk flat whites and orders sushi to their home may eventually feel the need to cook the real thing if a Ukrainian heart beats within them. Andrij approaches this borscht challenge with great dignity. His journey could be called an odyssey of borscht, if Odysseus had never left the borders of the Kyiv region and had sought answers to the fundamental questions of life and death at cabbage markets. Will Andrij uncover the secret of genuine borscht? He tries.
