Description
In the novel Erased, Miha Mazzini tells the story of a single mother, Zala Jovanovi?, who discovers in the maternity ward that her personal details are not recorded in the computer systems and that neither she nor her newborn son officially exist. Her desperate search for a way out of this complicated situation turns into a thrilling drama that reveals the dark side of the Slovenian social system and the successful independence of the country in the early 1990s. Mazzini is the first Slovenian author to literarily address the theme of the 'erased' - on February 26, 1992, 25,671 individuals were illegally erased from the population registry of Slovenia without warning and without the possibility of appeal, becoming stateless overnight. Their only 'offense' was that they were not born in the Slovenian part of the former Yugoslavia. In 2018, based on this novel, the author directed a feature film of the same name, starring Judita Frankovi? Brdar in the lead role, which won ten awards in Slovenia and abroad.
