In 2024, it has been 100 years since the birth of the significant Czech choreographer and one of the most prominent figures in modern ballet, Luboš Ogoun (February 18, 1924 – February 14, 2009). The Pavel Šmok Foundation and the Pavel Šmok Institute published a new monograph as part of their editorial series "Studio Ballet Prague and the Prague Chamber Ballet – History and Personalities" for this anniversary. The publication was taken on by dance historian Kateřina Šalounová, who focuses on the history of ballet after World War II, and dance journalist Lucie Kocourková, who has already had a successful career in the field of non-fiction literature, including monographs on the Studio Ballet Prague ensemble and choreographer Pavel Šmok. The publication provides an overview of Luboš Ogoun's choreographic work, analyzes his methods, artistic opinions, and his innovative approach to modern ballet, which was particularly significant in the 1960s. As a co-founder of the Ballet Prague ensemble, he stood alongside Pavel Šmok at the forefront of the progressive line of Czech choreography, which theorist and dramaturg Vladimír Vašut referred to as the "new wave."
