He began writing at a time when surrealism was a novelty. He lived long enough to report on postmodernism. The life story of Jindřich Chalupecký (1910–1990) is also a story of Czech culture. Art historian Tomáš Pospiszyl retold it using autobiographical quotes from Chalupecký himself, with imaginative illustrations by Tereza Bartůňková accompanying the text. This publication represents another step in the long-term effort of the Jindřich Chalupecký Society to bring the significance of this art expert closer to the public, whose name has symbolically credited its activities for over thirty years.
