Subjektivní Encyklopedie – Loskot Richard (2021)

This Czech-language publication explores the concept of environment through 100 definitions and original visualisations. We live in interesting times, when physicists work with the concept of consciousness and new fields examine relationships between things that were previously considered unconnected. We are beginning to understand that everything is related, yet when describing the world around us, we often use words such as reality, actuality or space, as though we were trying to describe a world without ourselves. Our point of view is always our own and cannot be separated from us: the subject is the object. “En-viron-mental” means the surroundings of consciousness. Every environment has a centre, represented not only by a human being but also by an animal, plant or stone. A network of meanings spreads through the environment and joins into a whole. The book contains a similar web of concepts that refer to one another. Each concept is described through text and image; these are not exact definitions or absolute statements, but invitations to imagination, with images inspiring new ideas and together pointing towards an individual, subjective approach. The publication features contributions by Richard Loskot, studio UAII, comprising Vítězslav Plavec and Rozárka Jiráková, and Barbora Ciprová, with prof. Jan Rak as guest. Richard Loskot was a finalist for the Jindřich Chalupecky Award in 2012, 2014 and 2017, and received the Audience Award in 2014 and 2017.
