Description
Were Libuše and her sisters, Přemysl, and all the legendary Czech princes mere figments of imagination, or do these legends preserve traces of a real past and their existence was fully real? The author leans towards the latter possibility and, using Hájek's Chronicle, embarks on reconstructing their fates. He points out the significance of the cult during the time of ancient Slavic faith and the struggle with the emerging Christianity. Finally, he explains the background and meaning of the sacrificial death of Prince Václav.
