Nové Město na Moravě včera a dnes – Šustr Milan (2018)

The first documented written report about Nové Město na Moravě comes from a charter of King Václav II from 1293 and is related to the colonization of the area after the establishment of the monastery in Žďár. Today, the city is primarily known as a center for winter sports in the Vysočina region, especially skiing and the popular biathlon. The city experienced its greatest social rise and the associated construction boom in the second half of the 19th century, when buildings for civic and public schools, an evangelical church, and later a secondary school were constructed. At that time, Nové Město na Moravě (the name used since 1911) became an independent political municipality and the center of the district. The book titled "Nové Město na Moravě Yesterday and Today" with text by Kateřina Skalníková not only offers a glimpse into history through period photographs of the city but also shows comparisons with contemporary photographs by Milan Šustr. This full-color publication invites readers on a metaphorical walk through Nové Město na Moravě and showcases the transformations the city has undergone over the past century.
