Description
Home? The way home leads from somewhere and goes somewhere. For some, home represents a place, for others, people, and for all, a feeling of safety. What does it mean for those who have ended up in prison, and who are they really? Do we punish them or rehabilitate them? Women's imprisonment is different from men's. Most of the convicted were victims themselves, most grew up or live in an environment where beating is the norm. Most are marked by the absence or fatal presence of a father. Most are susceptible to alcohol, drugs, and theft. Most have children, say they love them, but cannot take care of them. Many suffer from a loss of sensitivity. For many, remorse is a convenient tool. But then, in all that darkness, a light shines. These are the authentic fates of former female inmates. The book is published with documentary photographs by Karla Zoufalá and a foreword by Jiří Gajdoš, who worked in security services for twenty years and has spent the last ten years focusing on crime prevention and social exclusion.
