Among the goals of PhDr. Václav Budinský's book is to emphasize the extremely positive role of alcoholic beverages in human life and outline their historical, social, cultural, health, psychological, sociological, and economic functions – in short, to show their kind face, which is sometimes deliberately and sometimes unknowingly overlooked or concealed. The author believes that the solution to negative phenomena associated with alcohol does not lie in fighting alcohol as such, but only in a responsible approach to its consumption. The appendix by Prof. Šamánek and Assoc. Prof. Urban Effective Medicine provides the reader with the latest scientific insights into the positive role of alcohol in treating various diseases and its preventive role in their prevention.
