Description
Miroslav Zikmund: "We were actually such amateur filmmakers, and in the end, there wasn't much time left to learn how to work with the camera before we left!" So how did it happen that two "amateurs" became filmmakers who shot four feature films that were screened in sold-out cinemas? How did they manage to create 147 successful film reports? Hanzelka and Zikmund are written about as travelers and writers, but hardly at all as filmmakers (except for the encyclopedia of Czech documentarians). Certainly not without reason! These two gentlemen were indeed the founders of Czech travel documentary and significantly influenced its face to this day. How did they learn filmmaking? What was their workflow or what techniques did they use? And last but not least: what was their public and media presence from today's perspective, what we now call public relations? An added value of this publication is also the fact that the proofreader is Miroslav Zikmund himself, who provided not only his memories and notes but also photographs.
