The tenth title in the series of travel-fact books tells the story of two beautiful island regions, set in the contexts and relationships to the surrounding world, especially to Europe. The first island entity in the western Indian Ocean is dominated by Madagascar, with its unique flora, fauna, and history. Also in the other island countries, namely Réunion, Mauritius, Seychelles, Comoros, and Mayotte, history and nature have written dramatic chapters. The second story concerns the Azores, Madeira, and the Canary Islands in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, which, among other things, played a significant role in the process of European overseas discoveries.
