Description
The editor of the anthology of SF stories offered prominent Czech authors a theme that is not confined within too narrow boundaries. Therefore, the stories in the anthology are very diverse. According to the creators, mythical creatures can include a unicorn, a shark deity, a shaman in an apocalyptic society, various types of spirits, a bloody basilisk, and a young witch living in present-day Prague, an Indian snake deity, a leviathan, or even one of the authors of this book. As this list suggests, the stories take place in very exotic locations on our planet and in various periods of human civilization. From the list of authors, it is evident that women are closer to the given theme (women:men = 7:2), but that does not mean it is some "pink" women's reading. Czech female SF writers are capable of writing quite tough stories that can certainly match those of their male counterparts. A proof of this is that even in a story with a very gentle title, The Unicorn Protection Club, there is no shortage of corpses.
