This is a large full-color photographic publication aimed at introducing readers to the essence and beauty of horse-drawn carriages, which are an integral part of equestrian sports and horse breeding, through popular science trilingual texts—Czech, English, German—by Milan Vítek and photographs by Dalibor Gregor. The popular science texts are complemented by photographs documenting the beautiful, dynamic, and close connection between humans, nature, and horses. The purpose of the book is not to cover everything related to carriages, nor is it intended to be a textbook on this demanding discipline. However, we believe that readers will be interested in the traditions, history of carriages, current developments, and competition rules. Through this book, we would like to awaken public interest not only in carriage racing but also in recreational and tourist experiences, as this area of carriage use is currently experiencing unprecedented growth worldwide and is becoming very popular. We believe that by bringing the atmosphere of races, festivities, and exhibitions to life, through demonstrations of riding and driving competitions, we will encourage audience participation in similar events.
