Description
All four volumes of the readers are aligned with the textbook LITERATURE – an overview of high school curriculum, divided into 21 thematic areas (except for the chapter Basics of Literary Theory, which is included only in the literature textbook), which chronologically map the development of world and Czech literature from its beginnings to the present. From each presented literary work, two separate excerpts are included, the first of which is longer in scope, allowing the reader to get accustomed to the work and its characteristics, to familiarize themselves with it, and to recognize some peculiarities of the author's style. The subsequent block of questions related to the text (and possible topics for reflection) will certainly help teachers enliven their lessons, while students can refresh their knowledge and verify whether they have indeed read the text attentively. Students may encounter similar questions during entrance exams to universities, as it is necessary to be aware of the contexts related to the literary work and to be able to integrate the work into the general cultural-historical development. The second excerpt is always shorter and aims to illustrate phenomena that are good to notice while reading – these are examples from the thematic, linguistic, and compositional aspects of the work.
