Description
A novel by Slovak writer Stanislav Rakús (*1940) captures the value stratification of the perverse normalization system that pushes the capable to the periphery and favors the incompetent or characterless individuals. The main character, a prose writer and literary theorist Adam Zachariáš, attempts to depict the true face of this period through the "poetics of unwrittenness." Thus, a text within a text is created - a novel within a novel. The book has received the Dominik Tatarka Prize, the Prize of the Association of Slovak Writers, and the Rector's Prize of Prešov University.
