Viem zastaviť čas – Bartoš Juraj (2017)

Photographer Juraj Bartoš has been documenting the lives of people and the city in his unique way for over 50 years. He has no problem coming to the crowded Zlaté piesky and photographing sunbathers in swimsuits or capturing moments when random passersby laugh, cry, or stuff themselves with rolls. The concept of the book is a stunning visual document of the 80s and 90s with insightful commentary from the author himself. His photographs have become a unique testimony of the era. In the lens of Juraj Bartoš, people have always been the focus: I was interested in life, how people express themselves, how they treat each other, what atmosphere they have on their faces. Juraj Bartoš sometimes with a serious face, sometimes with humor, reveals the background of each photograph's creation. The introduction of the book features an honest confession from the photographer, who openly talks about his life during socialism and in the present day. The book presents the most significant themes from Bartoš's work, such as May Day festivities, Zlaté piesky, street fashion, political slogans and messages, Commercial Street, as well as Orava and photographs from his travels to the West, including America, Italy, France, and Scandinavia.
