Description
The author's testimony is truly shocking, but if it weren't, we probably wouldn't even notice it. Shocking because I initially considered the novel to be pornographic. But after reading it, I realized that it is also about something a bit different – it is also about the soul. About the soul of a woman who perceives sexuality differently than the vast majority of the female population and who opens a previously taboo topic. The fact that it is not unequivocal pornography is evidenced by the minimum number of women who have read it as men, and especially that they often react very positively to it. They even often completely identify with the main character, as if it were written about them. Yes, it is a topic we prefer to close our eyes to and pretend it doesn't concern us. And women with similar problems are simply spat upon and condemned. No one thinks about their frustration, which can often end in suicide... Novels like When Passion Drops the Mask say much more than meets the eye. They also speak about the contradictions in our society because if a man wrote a similar novel – and you don't have to look far, just think of Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer, almost everyone would applaud him. But when a woman dares to write it, she must be burned... I stand before Linda Chopin...
