GORDIE HOWE played in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings and Hartford Whalers and in the WHA for the Houston Aeros and New England Whalers. A four-time Stanley Cup winner, he won the Hart Trophy for the league's most valuable player six times and the Art Ross Trophy for the league's top scorer six times as well. He became the first player to receive the NHL Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. He is also the only hockey player to have played in the NHL across five different decades (the 1940s to the 1980s). The name Gordie Howe, along with his nickname 'Mr. Hockey' and his wife's nickname 'Mrs. Hockey', are registered trademarks.
