Description

This Czech-language book began as the intimate diary of a real person who lived in England at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The boy who wrote it was said to have been able from birth to see auras and spirits, as well as other people’s thoughts and things inaccessible to ordinary human perception. The diary offers a vivid account of the mysteries of human existence while also documenting its time and setting, and it is a distinctive literary work in its own right. The text has been edited only minimally, preserving the authentic writing style of a young boy marked by sincere simplicity, a remarkably sharp intellect, excellent powers of observation and an innocent, almost unintended sense of humour. The result is an entertaining blend of esotericism and humour. Alongside the diary entries, the book contains explanatory passages on how the spirit world works, karma and reincarnation, religion and other subjects. The final section includes several records from the author’s adulthood, when he had become an experienced and, in certain circles, well-known occultist. He long refused to allow the diary to be published, eventually agreeing only after his death and on condition that his anonymity be preserved.
