Český jazyk 2 – učebnice, Čtení s porozuměním – Janáčková Zita

This modern, colourful Czech-language textbook for the second year of primary school follows the latest trends, complies with the Czech Framework Educational Programme and forms part of the Reading with Comprehension series. It focuses on developing reading literacy and aims to spark children’s interest in the Czech language and literature. Innovative features include prose texts, poems, rhymes and riddles. Literary excerpts either introduce new material or practise grammar and spelling, and are accompanied by questions that reinforce reading literacy. The textbook also contains games, competitions, suggestions for group work and references to the relevant pages in the workbook, as well as activities focusing on pupils’ ethical education and cross-curricular connections. The accompanying character is the little elf Kvítek, who also appears in both parts of the supplementary workbook. After an introductory review of first-year material, new topics are presented in individual chapters, each ending with a review section, followed by a final review at the end of the book. Answers to riddles and more challenging tasks are included, together with a detachable card showing the printed and handwritten alphabets. The textbook is complemented by the two-part workbook Learning through Play with the Little Elf.
