A modern color textbook developed according to the latest trends, in accordance with the RVP ZV, published as part of the Reading with Understanding series aimed at supporting reading literacy. The Living Alphabet includes a preparatory phase for reading and prepares students for further development of reading skills. It offers an analytical-synthetic method of teaching. The guiding character of the Living Alphabet is the cat Sam, who rewards children with suns. In the introduction of the textbook, children will also meet Alenka and Michal, who, like them, are starting first grade. The textbook builds initial reading habits, supports the development of the senses necessary for reading, contributes to enriching vocabulary, and raises awareness of the meaning of words. It also includes exercises for developing fine motor skills, memory, and deepening understanding of heard and read messages. The textbook features games, competitions, puzzles, fill-in-the-blanks, and riddles. At the end of the textbook, a colorful cut-out appendix is included. Instructions for working with the appendix can be found in the textbook, along with expected outcomes. Working with the Living Alphabet also includes a so-called preparatory period for writing.
