A prison cell deep underground. Under the constant watch of silent guards, 39 women and one nameless girl spend their entire lives here. None of the women knows why they ended up here or what they did to deserve their fate, what their crimes were... if they even committed any. The guards never speak a word to the prisoners. The nameless girl is the only child who has survived in this ravaged world, for some unknown or perhaps forgotten reason. She has no name, no past, and no memories of the world outside before the catastrophe. She lives in a cage underground, where intimacy is forbidden. She does not know what books are, what feelings and emotions people can experience. Years in the underground prison pass as if time does not exist at all. It flows in relentless monotony, and days are separated from nights by the artificial light of bulbs. One day, an alarm echoes through the corridors. The guards disappear, and the doors remain open. Everything suddenly changes... and yet nothing changes. The nameless young woman, who has never known a man, sets out on a journey through a world without a past or future. She discovers piece by piece a place she has never been and confronts the greatest and most dangerous unknown: the freedom of a human being.
