Description
Follow the Amber Route, travelled by ancient merchant caravans from the Baltic to the Adriatic, carrying precious goods including the mineral that gave this famous old trade route its name: amber. The journey also takes you through the Krnov region, which lies on the border with Poland. Throughout history, it has always been an important area. As the Amber Route gradually developed, prehistoric people began settling here, and their settlements gave rise to Krnov and other villages and towns. Fortified hill settlements grew into imposing castles, many of which have survived to this day as romantic ruins or charming châteaux into which they were rebuilt.
