The second, expanded edition of the publication aims not only to provide a mere list of varieties that you can grow in your gardens or orchards, but also to assist in selecting a variety for specific conditions, and to familiarize readers with the basics of growing fruit trees. However, the purpose of the book is not to serve as a textbook. Without at least some basic skills, the brief introduction will not teach you how to grow fruit trees. At the same time, there was an effort to ensure that the general introductions to individual species contain precisely the essential and practical information that you cannot do without when planting. The general introductions are traditionally divided from the general part covering the origin and classification of the species into groups, requirements for the site, through more detailed cultivation descriptions, and a special section dedicated to the most important diseases and pests, to the explanation of the structure of the descriptions of individual varieties, which is important for understanding both the diversity of varieties within fruit species and also for the selection of varieties by end users. The descriptions of individual varieties themselves contain, right at the beginning, a very simple classification according to ripening time and pomological classification, according to the suitability of fruit use, and finally according to suitability for various cultivation areas.
