Description
This book by Tomáš Kempenský (d. 1471), perhaps the most widely distributed book in the world after the Bible, is a key work of the renewal movement known as devotio moderna, which emerged at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries. It consists of four treatises on spiritual life that were later joined into a single work. The book continues to appear in new editions, and entire generations of saints grew up with it, including Saint John Bosco and Saint Thérèse of Lisieux. The previously published translation by Josef Pernikář, dating from the last century, used somewhat archaic language, creating demand for a high-quality contemporary translation. This new translation from Latin is by Markéta Koronthályová, PhD.
