Description
This Czech-language exhibition catalogue presents the exhibition Traces of Tomáš Baťa as a visual interpretation of selected principles behind Tomáš Baťa’s business system and the Baťa company. Gabriela Končitíková does not attempt to retell history, but instead reconstructs thematically the key moments that shaped the modern industrial enterprise, including its management, work culture and relationship with society. The artwork by Jaromír 99 uses distinctive stylisation to translate historical experience into a contemporary visual language. Here, the comic serves as an interpretive medium, reducing events to an essential gesture, situation or dialogue and allowing Baťa’s principles to be read as a timeless system of meanings. One hundred and fifty years after Tomáš Baťa’s birth, the exhibition commemorates not only a historical figure but also a way of thinking that shaped modern business, the form of the city and the relationship between work and responsibility. It asks what traces Baťa left in his time and what imprint they may leave today.
