Description
This Czech-language Grade 6 biology textbook introduces students to biology and reading comprehension. Its opening section expands their knowledge of Earth and the development of life on Earth, then moves from the macrocosm to the microcosm. Students learn about the cell, the basic unit of organisms, and about non-cellular microorganisms such as viruses. Building on their knowledge of plant and animal cell structure, the textbook introduces unicellular organisms, from bacteria and some types of fungi and lichens to protozoa. Algae represent the plant kingdom, while invertebrate animals represent multicellular organisms. Each chapter begins with a general description of the organism, including its phylum and class, or subclasses and representatives, followed by an illustrated overview of body structure. Selected representatives are presented in diagrams with photographs, supplemented by interesting facts in side columns. Chapters end with questions on the material covered and a summary. Larger sections open with an engaging extract from popular science or literary texts, accompanied by reading-comprehension questions. The textbook also includes cyclical revision through test questions with illustrations and a comprehensive final review. An exercise key is available to download, and an interactive textbook is included for one year when the textbook is ordered for an entire class.
