We are pleased to present the new monograph Atlas EKG in case studies, which is a modern version of the EKG textbook in the context of 21st-century medicine. When Willem Einthoven constructed the first electrocardiograph (EKG) in 1903 and performed the first practical telemedicine transmission of EKG over a distance of 1.5 km using a telephone line in 1905, it was a true miracle for medicine. This influenced all medical fields up to the present day, and the author received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1924 for this discovery. In Czech medicine, the issue of EKG has developed very dynamically, with the first descriptions of typical EKG curves for frequent diagnoses such as acute myocardial infarction, atrial fibrillation, arteriovenous blockages, etc., appearing in the textbooks of Herles, Škod, and other giants of our internal medicine. Some EKG recordings from the period of the First Republic are not only very interesting but also historically valuable, such as the recording of President Masaryk's curve, the original of which is respectfully preserved by Professor Aleš Linhart at the II.
