The book "Army General Jan Syrový – One Great Czech Destiny" is the first comprehensive biography that objectively examines the extraordinary life story of Army General Jan Syrový. His journey through World War I in the ranks of the Czechoslovak legions in Russia is thoroughly documented. In 1926, he became the first Czechoslovak Chief of the General Staff. From 1933 to 1939, he served as the General Inspector of the Armed Forces. He was also a member of several governments and served as Prime Minister. The aim of this book is to significantly contribute to the societal and moral rehabilitation of Jan Syrový, who suffered an extraordinarily grave injustice after World War II and became a victim of one of the first politicized court trials in Czechoslovakia. Based on an absurd and extremely unjust accusation, the National Court in Prague sentenced him in April 1947 to twenty years in prison. The pretext was primarily his meeting with Adolf Hitler on March 16, 1939, during which a handshake initiated by the Nazi dictator took place. Jan Syrový was released from prison on amnesty in 1960.
