Description
The story opens in the gloomy atmosphere of Mr Bohumil’s funeral, where a paper swallow folded from the wings of a guardian angel and a conductor carrying a one-way ticket to the Land of Hope suddenly appear. Apparently, no one sees them except Bohumil’s granddaughter Zdenička, who misses her grandfather terribly. From his final journey, her grandfather sends Zdenička letters delivered by a mysterious postman. Together with his celestial team of a bull, a ram, a lynx and a giraffe, he takes her across a sea of tears and through thick clouds to the golden gates of the Land of Hope. The book is intended for younger schoolchildren who have lost someone close to them, but it is also a story for anyone who enjoys fantasy. It is especially suitable for dramatic reading aloud in groups of children, such as schools, libraries and scouting groups. The text is intended for children from around six years of age together with their parents, or for older children as a first independent reading experience. The contents are in Czech.
