Another in a series of journalistic booklets, this time on the topic of dying and death in various religious and ethnic traditions. Unlike contemporary Czech society, which is largely atheistic, dying and death hold a firm place in various religious cultures and ethnic groups. Traditions and customs maintained for centuries play an important role in the process of caring for the sick, dying, burial, mourning, and caring for the bereaved and the community. They help us navigate through difficult times, providing a solid guide on how to proceed, what to remember, and how to be present. Certain traditions and rituals are typical for each culture, yet they intertwine very closely. Perhaps we could be inspired by them and reintegrate customs that we have long pushed aside back into our lives.
